So far I have tested out 3 different threads that I use for sub #20 hooks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">UNI 17\/0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>TMC 16\/0<\/li>\n<li>Sheer 14\/0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here I have wound up the different threads on a TMC 100 #24 hook to give you an idea on how it looks like.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-186\" alt=\"2013.04.dryfly.me.threads\" src=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"642\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads-210x139.jpg 210w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.threads.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Thread: Uni 17\/0<\/h3>\n<p>I normally don&#8217;t take this out until I hit #30 or #32, but for these very small flies this thread is the absolute best: the build-up is hard to notice! But, this of course comes at a cost, it can be a most frustrating thread to work with compared to anything else: it feels like thin silk between your fingers and it <em>will break<\/em> as easy!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-183\" alt=\"2013.04.dryfly.me.thread_uni_17\" src=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"642\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17-210x139.jpg 210w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_uni_17.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Thread: TMC 16\/0<\/h3>\n<p>This thread is pre-waxed and is easier to work with than the UNI 17\/0 thread. Since the UNI only comes in white this is the other #30\/#32 thread that I use. The TMC is stronger than the UNI thread so it is &#8220;easier&#8221; to work with on the small hooks.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-184\" alt=\"2013.04.dryfly.me.thread_tmc_16\" src=\"http:\/\/dryfly.me\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"642\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16-210x139.jpg 210w, https:\/\/flyfisher.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/2013.04.dryfly.me_.thread_tmc_16.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<h3>Thread: Sheer 14\/0<\/h3>\n<p>The Sheer 14\/0 is my default thread for anything sub #18 &#8211; this thread is strong compared to its minimal buildup and is very easy to work with. It also comes in a wide variety of colors that makes it ideal to build bodies for small emergers\/nymphs.
